Candy covered almonds
Otherwise known as bomboniera. These confetti candy was based on an Italian tradition that symbolized fertility and good luck.
Long ago, these bomboniere (usually 5 or 7, because they were seen as lucky numbers) were placed in a small mesh sac, tied with a beautiful ribbon and given to their guests thanking them for being part of their special day.
These almond candies have become very popular all over the world, and to this day you may see these bonboniere attached to a small gift, given to guests to remind them of the couple’s wedding day.
