Polish Wedding Tradition of bread, salt and wine

The parents greet the bride and groom with bread, salt and wine.

The bread is given to the couple by their parents hoping that their children will never hunger.

The salt that is sprinkled on the bread reminds the bride and groom that ”they can overcome the bitterness in life”.

The wine is given by the parents hoping that their children will have a life full of good health and cheer, and that they always enjoy the sweetness in life.
