If you are going with a tiered wedding cake, you could cut your costs by having each tier a different flavour, depends on the flavours.  

If you are having a dessert table, your wedding cake doesn’t have to be real, it could be a display cake.  Having large slab cakes prepared for a dessert table will be more affordable and make it easier to cut and serve to your guests.
