The wedding ring finger is known as the third finger of the left hand. 

During the wedding ceremony the bride and groom place the wedding ring which is round with no beginning or end, symbolizing never-ending love on the third finger of the left hand.

This finger is known as the wedding ring finger because it is known to contain the vein that travels to the heart (the vena amoris) symbolizing LOVE.
