There are weddings and weddings. When you are a billionaire, you can afford a wedding budget consisting of a 10-fugure number. That’s exactly what the oil and media tycoon Mikhael Gutseriev decided to spend on his son’s wedding – one of the most lavish weddings we’ve ever seen!
Here are the details of the oligarch’s multi-million-pound wedding:
A reported $1 million haute couture gown was among the most-discussed details of the wedding. Worn by the happy bride, a 28-year-old student Khadija Uzhakhovs, the wedding dress to remember is custom-designed by Elie Saab and shipped all the way from Paris to Moscow where the lavish wedding ceremony took place.
A real fairy-tale wedding dress, the gown features a tight bodice, long sleeves and a full skirt cascading in folds to the floor. The dress was so heavy that it took 2 people to help the bride carry its weight!
To complete the look, the young bride (who was reportedly chosen after a 4-year search) wore a floor-length veil embellished with crystals, a matching handbag (also imported from Paris), a diamond tiara, and a jaw-dropping diamond pendant around her neck. Apparently, to marry a billionaire’s son, you have to be not only young and beautiful but modest as well! Rumor has it that the bride was still a virgin when she said “yes” during the memorable wedding ceremony in Moscow.
The wedding cake
Just like everything else, the wedding cake was a real masterpiece. Impressive both in size and in design, it was a nine-tier iced wedding cake taller than a real person! Decorated with lavish layers of pink and white flowers, it surely impressed both the wedding guests and the press…
A wedding to remember is a wedding on which the entertainment is not being belittled. Speaking of grandeur, this particular wedding had it all. With performances by J Lo, Enrique Iglesias, and Sting, it was actually closer to an MTV Video Music Awards show than a wedding. As if this is not enough, the party ended with a fabulous round of fireworks that left the wedding guests speechless.
You wouldn’t expect a wedding of this scale to let the wedding guests arrive by bus, would you? A fleet of luxury cars, including Rolls-Royces, was the choice of transportation for the 600 guests of the most fabulous wedding of the year.
The guests’ party bags
To fit the scale of the wedding, the impressive party bags the guests left with included a delicate gold box engraved with the couple’s names and the date of their wedding.
