With Spain’s big World Cup win, I thought I’d blog about some of my favorite Spanish Wedding customs.

1. In true Spanish wedding tradition the bride will wear a traditional silk, black dress with an accompanying black lace veil held in place by combs.

A bride from the Andalusia region may wear a flamingo style dress to honor the old Spanish wedding customs of that region.

2.Brides carry orange blossom bouquets or wear wreaths or tiaras decorated with orange blossoms. This is to symbolize a life of happiness and fulfillment for the couple.

3.In Spanish wedding customs, the wedding ceremony is held in the early evening.

4.The bride and groom will give their guests small wedding favors.

The Groom will also give the men cigars at some time during the reception.

The bride will give the women who are single small pins that are worn upside down. A Spanish wedding custom says that if a woman looses the pin during the reception she is believed to be the next to get married.

5. The bride is expected to embroider a groom’s wedding shirt to wear at the wedding ceremony.

1. Backyard Weddings.  Smaller size guest list, more intimate settings.  These weddings may be small in size but not in decorative, themed details.

2. Butter cream is making a comeback.  Fondant is falling behind as cake designers are finding tools to allow butter cream to look as smooth as fondant on wedding cakes.

3. Destination Weddings.  Some bridal couples are choosing romantic islands for their nuptials, others are choosing destination that are within driving distance of their hometown.  Destination that are weekend getaways for your guests and romantic locations to tie the knot.

4.  Favors are coming back.  Look out for some really unique, beautiful favors this year.

5.  Color, color, color!  Brides will be overwhelmed with the gorgeous color palette of 2010.

wedding candy apples

I know there are lots of wedding favors out there, but I have to say that these are my pick for fall weddings.  These jumbo wedding candy apples are perfect for any fall wedding.  The candy apples are decorated in Belgium chocolate to resemble a bride’s dress and a groom’s tux.

Masquerade Ball is a great way to incorporate a Halloween theme, without going all out.  You can have masks given out to all your guests to wear upon arrival.  After the celebration, the guests can bring the masks home as their wedding favors.  The color scheme can be endless.  You can have it as colorful or as tame as you want.  The beautiful curves and designs of the masks make this theme so elegant and romantic.  I love this idea.  What do you think?
