5 Ways to Tie Springtime into Your Wedding

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

1.  Add a spring motif:  such as a tulip or butterfly.

2. Consider color: spring pastels, greens, etc.

3. Get whimsical : fun, flirty looks to evoke a festive spring feeling.

4. Add greens : grasses and greenery are a natural look for spring weddings.  Plus it’s a great filler and most times is cheap.

5. Choose blooms in season: classics include tulips, daffodils, lilies (especially calla lilies and easter lilies), magnolias, gardenias, hydrangeas, gerbera daisies, apple or cherry blossoms.

Color of 2010: Turquoise

Pantone Color TurquoiseSelecting your wedding dress is by far the most exciting part of wedding planning. But once that’s done its onto bridesmaid’s dresses, reception decor, and what will your wedding color be?

Pantone has named turquoise as its color of 2010. “In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special position in the world of color,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky”, Eiseman further states.

Look for lots of different ways brides will be using this color in their wedding color scheme.  In the next few weeks I’ll be posting some different color combinations that I think will be front and center this spring and summer.

Top 5 Predictions for 2010 Wedding Trends

Friday, January 1st, 2010

1. Backyard Weddings.  Smaller size guest list, more intimate settings.  These weddings may be small in size but not in decorative, themed details.

2. Butter cream is making a comeback.  Fondant is falling behind as cake designers are finding tools to allow butter cream to look as smooth as fondant on wedding cakes.

3. Destination Weddings.  Some bridal couples are choosing romantic islands for their nuptials, others are choosing destination that are within driving distance of their hometown.  Destination that are weekend getaways for your guests and romantic locations to tie the knot.

4.  Favors are coming back.  Look out for some really unique, beautiful favors this year.

5.  Color, color, color!  Brides will be overwhelmed with the gorgeous color palette of 2010.
